I remember being on stage as a child, playing Charlie Brown in a grade school play. This was the first time I had learned about a spotlight, and what such a thing does. At first I hated it, but then I got used to it and started to understand that this was a way for me to show off. I was spotlighted because I was the lead. Well, I haven’t been in a play or musical since high school, yet I have many items in my yard that I like to show off. To do so, I use a solar spotlight.
Highlighting Tree Decorations
During this past Christmas, I wanted to show off some of these extra large tree decorations that I bought at the local discount store. I loved how they looked like the old ones my grandparents owned, yet were four times as big. However, at night you could barely see them, at it just didn’t feel right. So, I took four solar spotlights and surrounded our blue spruce, making sure to highlight several decorations. The way the lights shone with a soft blue hue was really nice, and made the tree look even better than in the daylight.
Focus On The Garden Patch
Away from Christmas, though, I use my solar spotlight for many other things. For one, during the spring my wife and I plant a garden on the left and right front sides of the house. My wife plants flowers while I plant fruit and veggies. We use two spotlights on both sides to show off how the plants are growing, and our neighbors get a real kick out of it.
When our son got his first car, he took it to a shop and had it custom painted. Then, he purchased some nice ‘spinners’ for his tires and we could sense the pride he took in this vehicle. So, during the summer we had the spotlights highlighting the rims and a bit of his car. He was the envy of all of his friends, and we loved how he felt so loved and honored by us. It worked out well for us, too, because there were a string of car burglaries during one week, and our son’s car was never touched.
Myriad Ways To Use It In The Yard
During the fall we purchased an outdoor pond set and had it installed in the front yard. When it was finished it looked like we had a natural waterfall with local granite rocks that flowed into a small pond that had koi inside. Due to the presence of local cats we had a small wire mesh over the pond to protect our fish. We loved this new addition to our yard so much that we used solar spot lighting to keep its beauty shining throughout the night.
No matter what, we always find a use for our solar spotlight. Whether by itself or together with a few more, the magic the light brings is always a wonderful delight to our family and our neighbors. Next year we plan on building a front deck which we will showcase with these spot lights. And knowing that we can take them out and place them elsewhere when needed makes us glad we went with solar power.
